Holidays are a time to be with family. For many of our elderly or ill brethren, however, the Holidays are not the joyous time they were meant to be. Since its inception in 1970, Chabad volunteers led by Mrs. Blumah Wineberg have brought warmth and cheer to residents and patients in KC area hospitals, retirement and nursing homes. Prior to the Jewish Holidays and the Jewish Sabbath, volunteers and staff of Chabad House Center of KC visit Jewish residents at area hospitals, retirement and nursing homes. Volunteers bring Shabbat and Yom Tov goodies and arrange holiday parties and pre-Shabbat programs. Whether the Sukka Mobile on Sukkot or Megillah reading and Shalach Manot on Purim, Chabad is always there to afford the patients and residents the ability to perform whatever special laws and commandments are associated with the upcoming holiday.
